Wisdom Root

The author of the quote im citing explains that true wisdom does not come from learning something but from learning to feel everything instead.

Knowledge is something we earn from books, research or delving facts. Wisdom comes from “being wise”, meaning that we have a power to judge and discern the information properly as to what is right or true to ourselves.

There’s an important philosophical lesson from Socrates that literally says “I know that I know nothing” that could be explained as the idea of understanding that my truth is only mine to possess and the other’s truth may be as real as mine but it does not need to fit mine.

This being said, the new age philosophy pushes the concept of empathy and tolerance as the main pillars of living in a healthy society, where I respect other people’s opinions as much as I want them to respect mine.

We can keep getting knowledge from everyone and everything we have available to us in this “information boom” we are experiencing, but the question here is if we are also cultivating wisdom from everything we learn to be true.
