Life is about the Journey, not the Destination

I know this sounds cliche but sometimes we need something to happen in order to click these motivational quotes into our lives. This past weekend i went on a hiking trip to one of the highest mountains in Bolivia called Huayna Potosi.
I meant to do this since December but I was postponing it due to lack of training and not finding the right time to do it. Last week, my cousin called me and we decided to go only a few days later.

We did not plan or train correctly but we decided to take the leap of faith and just do it because why not? It’s always better to fail than not having the experience, we thought.
We failed. And even though we did not get to the top of the mountain, we had a hella fun weekend! We faced our fears, we jumped into the unknown and we didn’t make it to the top by only 288meters.
Now, we might have not made it to the expected destination, but the experience of hiking through rocks, wind and snow, the conversations we had, the powerful way we reconnected with our roots, the breathtaking sun set and rise, the scenic panorama and the amazing people we met during the trip, made the journey way more meaningful than arriving to our destination.
Can you find any situation in your life right now where you could to take a step back and enjoy the view instead of rushing to your destination?
